SeaTech Solutions International (SSI) has entered into a Research Collaboration Agreement with American Bureau of Shipping (ABS), Marinteknik Shipbuilders (S) Pte. Ltd., and VINSSEN Co., Ltd. to jointly develop a hydrogen fuel cell-powered harbour craft for Singapore. Supported by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA), the collaboration represents a significant step towards advancing the adoption of clean energy solutions within Singapore's maritime sector.

The project brings together leading organisations with expertise in vessel design, shipbuilding, classification, and hydrogen fuel cell technology to evaluate the feasibility of hydrogen-powered harbour craft. The collaboration aims to support Singapore's decarbonisation goals by developing safe, efficient, and commercially viable solutions for harbour operations.

Under the first phase of the project, the consortium will conduct a comprehensive feasibility study covering vessel concept design, hydrogen fuel cell system integration, techno-economic analysis, and risk assessment. The outcomes will provide the technical and commercial foundation for the project's subsequent phases, including prototype development and potential sea trials.

As the consortium's vessel design partner, SSI will lead the development of the harbour craft design, leveraging its expertise in naval architecture and marine engineering to optimise vessel performance while ensuring the safe and seamless integration of hydrogen fuel cell technology. The company will work closely with project partners to deliver a design that meets operational, safety, and regulatory requirements.

Hydrogen is increasingly recognised as a promising alternative marine fuel capable of supporting the industry's transition towards net-zero emissions. By participating in this collaboration, SSI continues to strengthen its commitment to delivering innovative vessel designs that support decarbonisation while enhancing operational performance and safety.

This collaboration reflects SSI's ongoing mission to drive innovation through design and engineering excellence, contributing to the advancement of sustainable maritime technologies for Singapore and the global maritime community.
